BRANDING & PACKAGING

A unique blend of plant extracts that makes you fall asleep easier, sleep better and wake up more refreshed.

LOGO

To express the eternal cycle between day and night I incorporated an infinite circle inside the 3 letter brand name and used bold and round letters, in combination with a thin font for the tagline, to compose a clean and trustworthy logo.

COLOURS

A full soothing blue is the main brand colour, used as background tone in digital and prints, where a darker blue is used for typography. A deep grapefruit red is the colour of Mulungu, the main ingredient and unique characteristic of the drink. It appears in the illustrations. Together they create a smooth gradient that fully covers the label.

A light pink is used as background colour to add a sense of warmth.

IN THE LABEL

Extremely minimal, the front look aims to focus on few key information, keeping the design minimal, mysterious and attractive.

Turning the can, all product information are revealed on the back.

MINIMAL LOOK

Night = Calmness

Day = Effectiveness

From the blue of the night to the first purple lights of the morning, as the sun rises the mind awakens. A transition expressed with a soft gradient that fills the whole surface of the packaging.

SLIM CAN

Nox is marketed in a slim aluminium can, positioned in antithesis of energy drinks, opponents in terms of purpose and philosophy. 

 

The print has a matte look and feel, that gives the product a soft and premium touch.

NOX BLEND

A unique formula that consist of four plant extracts, Mulungu, Tilia, Valerian

and Passiflora, which have individual properties to promoted relaxation and induce sleep in a natural and effective way.

The essence of these ingredients is captured into clean and symmetrical icons. In their natural perfection they inspire a feeling of medicinal trustworthiness.

WRAPAROUND

In line with the round features of the brand, I designed the concept for a carton wrap that rolls around a raw of 3 cans.
Developed in collaboration with Product Reflex, who successfully translated the concept into an elegant self closing carton box.

Two moon shaped openings on the top allow to glimpse inside the case.

ICONOGRAPHY

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

Protagonist of all the ingredients, Mulungu's flower brings to the product an extremely distinct and powerful look. I illustrated the product immersed in a deep soothing mix of exotic dark leaves and bright red flowers.

PACKAGING

MAKEOVER

Based on result of marketing testing and research, few years after entering the market, the company decided to introduce a re-designed version of the packaging.​ 

The size of the can became smaller. The label evolved to underline the two most important traits of the drink. The word sleep is more prominent and complemented with a moon icon and the illustration of mulungu replaced the gradient becoming an integral part of background.
